At the beginning of this term we started work on our fruit and vegetable patches. All the children helped to weed the patches; it was hard work but working as a team was key to getting the job completed.
Once the soil had been prepared, we could move onto the planting. We have two beds of lettuce, one Cos and one Iceberg. Another bed has sweet peas, mange tout and petit pois. The final bed is a fruit patch containing strawberries, raspberries, a strawberry bush and pineberries (a strawberry that tastes like pineapple)!
We will keep you updated on our progress and hopefully you will be able to try some of the produce at the end of term.
If anyone has any tips for growing the above fruits or vegetables, Miss Plater will receive them gratefully.
