On Monday 23rd November, as part of our ‘Keeping ourselves safe and happy’ topic and alongside Road Safety Week, Specsavers came into school to deliver a special assembly to the children in Year 2 – Year 6. We learnt about how the eye works and what we can do to keep them safe and healthy. We were shown some of the equipment the opticians use and even got to try some of these out! Then we told about the importance of being safe on the road and using our senses to help keep us safe. We looked at different scenarios and discussed what we should do to be safe. It reminded us all about the importance of being safe on the roads, in the car and walking. We were given a ‘goody bag’ and some fluorescent jackets to wear when walking.
