  1. English Speaking Board Exams

On the morning of 1st May there was a mixture of nerves and excitement in the air.  Not only had our chicks begun to hatch over night, but this was the morning of the English Speaking Board Exams.

Nine children entered the room with trepidation. However, no sooner had they sat down than our examiner, Graham LeGall, had managed to put smiles on their faces.  A relaxed atmosphere was immediately created and the children performed with ease and confidence.

A fascinating array of talks was given – ranging from the Olympics to Mummification and many in between.  Poems and readings were delivered with fluency, clarity and great expression.

Needless to say Mrs. Newman and I were, once again, immensely proud of all the children who took part.

The excitement continued as, two days later, we received our results.  We knew how brilliantly we thought the children had performed and we hoped the examiner agreed.  We were absolutely delighted to discover that we had received two Merit Plus awards and seven distinctions – the highest grade possible.

You will be able to see the children who take spoken English and speech and drama lessons showcase thier work at the Presentation Evening on 10th July.  For more information about these lessons please speak to Miss Plater.
